Abstract:

This article presents the results of a study of consumer information placed on packaging of drinking milk claimed to be made from whole milk. The study involved samples of pasteurized drinking milk from 11 different manufacturers, purchased from retailers in the Moscow region from January to April 2025. It was found that many manufacturers violate technical regulations and make various errors and discrepancies in the labeling of their drinking milk. An analysis of the labeling of the study samples is presented. It is determined that while manufacturers generally comply with regulatory requirements, there are some violations of current legislation. The authors believe there is an urgent need to tighten the liability of drinking milk producers (as well as many other food products), as the information on consumer packaging is either formal or within the scope of current requirements, and only a detailed study of the terminology used and other packaging information reveals the dishonesty of many producers. This underscores the importance of covering these issues in scientific and popular literature, as well as in the media, to increase consumer awareness, so that consumers can, through informed choices, prevent the sale of counterfeit products by ceasing to purchase and consume them.
