Challenges and Strategic Megatrends of Modern Nutrition

Abstract:

The thesis concerns the key challenges of modern nutritionology. The study aim is to review the nutritionology development directions in modern realities in accordance with the scientific research results, nutrition theory and accumulated historical experience. Based on the analysis of domestic, foreign and own research, the author presents the classification of food raw materials, general and specialized food products. The necessity of updating the term “functional products” is no doubt. The research consists of the strategic development megatrends of nutrition science: the search for new food sources; the vital nutrients shortage elimination; the prevention and comprehensive treatment of alimentary-dependent diseases; the development of new highly effective forms of specialized products, including biotechnological profile; the evolutionary nutrition, genome and microbiome integration study; the healthy food expansion of products using local raw materials; the safety and bioavailability improvement of biologically active substances that determine the functional properties and effectiveness of specialized products; the food safety control; nutrition and health monitoring; specialist training and advanced training in the field of nutrition and engineering of specialized products. The researcher determined that modern preventive and curative medicine focused on the nutrition, genome and microbiome integration, on the bioavailability of the products being developed, enabling to optimize the diet and update nutrition recommendations.
