Abstract:

The food industry faces urgent aims especially functional products development. Plant extracts are in demand in the products market used for the prevention of certain types of cardiovascular system pathology. It is reasonable to use plant extract as ingredients of alcohol-free drinks and products from dairy raw materials. At the same time, modern products should be safe and effective. The authors run the main effects research of the Hedysarum genus extracts. The experiment aim was to study the herb extract cardioprotective effect of Hedysarum alpinum L. on the model of myocardial stabilization under the stress. The study object was 40 % ethanol extract of Hedysarum alpinum L. To study the extract cardioprotective activity authors used the model of the immobilize painful stress on the example of female rats weighing 250-300 g. They injected extract samples through a tube into the animal stomach, and diluted previously the substance dose in 2 cm3 of purified water. The injected extract amount, selected empirically, was 200 mg / kg. Authors used standard doses of known drugs-Meldonium (100 mg/kg) and flavonoid quercetin (50 mg/ kg) in the control group. While introducing strophanthin K (a drug that causes arrhythmia) in the group of the studied herb extract Hedysarum alpinum L. there was no animal death and only 17 % of episodes of the cardiac arrhythmia. While introducing the compared drug Meldonium in terms of this technique there were no rats death and 34% of episodes of the abnormal heart rhythm. In the rats group treated with quercetin, after the introduction of strophanthin K compared with the control, the number of surviving rats increased to 85 %; cardiac arrhythmias were observed in 34 % of episodes, in 50 % of cases there were extrasystole. The study results lead to the conclusion about the prospects of using Hedysarum alpinum L. as the main component of functional nutrition for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases (CVD). According to the research results, the alcohol extract obtained from the plant raw materials of Hedysarum alpinum L. has a more signified cardioprotective effect on the model of acute immobilized stress in comparison with Meldonium – one of the most popular cardioprotective drugs.
