Abstract:

Authors consider the scheme of a small-size equipment of final cold tap water treatment with a capacity for purified water of 10 liters per hour. To measure the initial water quality according to the chemical composition the following indicators are used: aquatic environment character, total mineral composition, calcium and magnesium ions concentration, and chemical reducing agent. To evaluate the quality and safety indicators of purified drinking water scientists made a tapping of the initial and purified water at the point of water supply in the laboratory according to the GOST 31861–2012 “Water. General Requirements for Tapping”, GOST 31942–2012 “Water. Tapping for Microscopic Analysis”, GOST R 56237– 2014 (ISO 5667-5: 2006) “Drinking Water. Tapping at Treatment Plants and in Pipeline Distribution Systems”. The organoleptic evaluation indicators of initial and purified tap water samples were identical, that indicates the compliance of the initial tap water pumped to the laboratory with the requirements of Sanitary Rules and Norms 2.1.4.1074–01 “Drinking Water. Hygienic Water Quality Requirements of Сentral Drinking Water Supply Systems. Quality Сontrol”. A quantitative chemical water analysis showed that the hydrogen index changed from 7.5±0.2 to 6.4±0.2. The index of iron (Fe, total) changed from 0.110±0.025 to less than 0.1. The partial demineralization took place. Measurements of the total salt content in the initial and final water by TDS-meter showed that in the initial water in different tapping the concentration of dissolved substances totally reached 180-220 mg/l. In purified water this concentration decreased to 20–25 mg/l (while the recommended rate is not more than 50 mg/l).
